Combined Sports Teams
Our Ambassador Programme aims to increase participation in girls’ sports through identifying aspirational young female leaders and enabling them to inspire those around them to participate in sport.
We’re not looking for the best player in the team, we’re looking for girls willing and passionate about kicking goals and helping grow girls’ sport in New Zealand. Ambassadors must be enrolled in a secondary school in NZ (Yr9-13), have initiative and able to communicate with all age groups, and be passionate about the participation of girls sport.
Ambassadors receive leadership and personal development opportunities, an environment to grow as a person and the chance to create meaningful change through our Pathway Level Awards, specifically designed for teenage girls involved in sport.
Each level requires Ambassadors to attend the two Forward Foundation Ambassador Conferences (January and July), occupy an active role with the aim of increasing participation in their sport and participate in discussion forums with other Ambassadors from across New Zealand.
Applications for 2022 will be available term 4.
We know traditional sport isn't for everyone, so we've created a club that's fun, free and just for girls. The Not-So-Sports Club (NSSC) offers recreation activities and a chance to make new friends every Wednesday afternoon of the school term for high school aged girls in Canterbury.
Girls are collected from our partner schools and transported to the location of the activity for the week. Previous activities have included Zorb Balls, Sport Canterbury's Top Team, walks in Halswell Quarry and outdoor games in the Hagley Park.
Combined Sports Teams
We don’t think it’s fair that anyone should miss out. That’s why we’ve put together combined teams of rugby, football, futsal and cricket in Canterbury, for girls who want to play but whose school doesn’t offer it. Girls from across the region come together in the weekly interschool competitions or tournaments as a team. The result – everyone who wants to play, gets to play.
We currently have teams for Futsal, Rugby + Cricket and are soon to add Basketball + Football. If there's a sport you'd love to play but your school doesn't have a team, drop us a line - we'd love to see if we can help.
